
Dr. McWade was born and raised in Deep River, Ontario where he attended
elementary and secondary school.
He has practiced orthodontics in Kanata since 1985. He has been
in his current office since 1990 and has kept the facility current
as technological and patient needs have changed. Since December,
2000 most of the major pieces of equipment have been replaced and
in March, 2001 the entire office was redecorated with a bright,
bold colour scheme.
Dr. McWade received his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in 1972 and
his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1976 from the University
of Toronto. From 1976 until 1981 he served as a dental officer in
the Canadian Armed Forces with postings in Halifax, Nova Scotia
and Lahr, West Germany. He returned to Canada for post-graduate
training at the University of Western Ontario in 1981 where he was
awarded his Masters of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics (M.Cl.D.)
degree in 1983. His Masters thesis on the Frankel appliance was
published in the American Journal of Orthodontics in October, 1987.
Dr. McWade keeps up to date with the latest advances in orthodontic treatment
by participating in 8 to 10 days of continuing education courses or seminars
each year. He is a member in good standing of the Canadian Association
of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Ontario Association
of Orthodontists, Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association
and the Ottawa Dental Society.
Dr. McWade has lived in Kanata since 1984 with his wife Maureen and
their three children Cameron, Taylor and Whitney.
Dr. McWade is an avid sports fan especially hockey and golf which
he plays every chance he has. He shares season tickets to the Ottawa
Senators and is a member of the Kanata Golf and Country Club.
